In this lab, we study how people deal with the stress of stigma in their daily lives. Specifically, we examine this question from three angles:
1. How do individuals appraise stigma-related stressors? That is, do they think that an experience is stressful? What does this process look like? 2. How do individuals cope with stigma-related stressors? What sort of coping mechanisms do people tend to use? What are the consequences of these behaviors? 3. What are the health consequences of this process? How does stigma-related stress affect one’s mental and/or physical health? |
